Hodgkinson hits Selby for 6

Selby II 104-7  lost to Askham Bryan II 123 by 19 runs.

In an innings dominated by a match winning 66 from Paul ‘Scooby’ Thornton, Mike Hodgkinson (13) recorded his fist ever maximum (and only 6 of the game). The only other Askham players to make double figures were Colin Garnett (13) and Steve ‘double figures’ Mason (11). Mark ‘stick a leg out’ Hudson remains undefeated in his two Askham innings!

With 124 to defend the Askham bowlers set about their task. Thornton (1-17) and Mike ‘only bowled one wide’ Clark (1-24) opened the bowling and kept the scoring rate down. Prateek ‘got some spikes’ Sharma took the key wicket by removing the dangerous Knight (23). Once Jolly (32) was run out, the Selby chase faded. Mike ‘should bowl off 2 paces more often’ Hodgkinson finishing with 3-12.

First defeat for firsts

Askham Bryan 58 lost to North Duffield 119 by 61 runs

The 10 man Askham Bryan first team suffered their first loss of the season, at the hands of North Duffield. Restricting their opponents to only 119 with some tight bowling – including 4-28 from Mark Grewer – the team were hopeful of chasing down their target.

However, a steady loss of wickets led to a first defeat for the team. Let’s hope winning ways return next week!
